The Troy Music Academy

The Troy Music Academy is a private music lesson studio in Troy, NY.  We teach students of all ages, from 4 to 84. Our lessons are fun and relaxed.  We instruct each student according to their individual interests and goals, from classical to folk to rock! The TMA is located in the beautiful Market Block Building in historic downtown Troy, where we have enjoyed being a part of a beautiful small business community since 2011.

The Frank Daley Memorial Scholarship has been a treasured asset to the TROY MUSIC ACADEMY.  The funds have provided music lessons to students who otherwise may not have had the opportunity to take private instruction.  Several of our students have experienced personal loss in their immediate family.  Music lessons have given these students an outlet for their creativity and emotions.  We are honored to offer this scholarship in the memory of our dear friend Frank Daley.  We believe Frank would be very proud to know that these students are gaining access to the wonderful realm of musicianship.

How Music Education Can Change Lives

From the TROY MUSIC ACADEMY:

Our friend Sarah wanted to share her thoughts about the guitar lessons that her daughter, Vada, has been receiving at the Troy Music Academy. Vada's dad passed away suddenly a few years ago, and Sarah explains how Vada is coping and healing through music:

"As you know, her father passed away unexpectedly in 2020, and he played guitar almost constantly. He learned songs from Disney for her, and she would sing, and he would play guitar and do backup vocals, so it's a great honor for her to be awarded the scholarship. Without him around, we are financially a little strapped, and I never would've been able to afford to give her this pleasure. This is the only extracurricular activity that she does, and it's nice because I get to learn along with her while we practice. Also, she has ADHD and the immediate satisfaction that she gets from learning a new chord progression is very valuable to her. Getting started is a challenge with all kids with ADHD, but once she goes, she goes, and it's amazing to see. A lot of times, I have to leave the room and wipe my eyes. Thank you so much to Troy Music Academy, Super 400 & the staff at the academy, & the Daley family, especially Frank. He will be deeply missed. Music is a language that everyone understands and is timeless. He will be honored and remembered always through these students."

Thank you, Sarah and Vada! xoxo
